Carry On | Rainbow Rowell

Last Friday I wrote a book review for Fangirl and promised that I'd do a book review for Carry On as well. As I said, I'm not very good with summaries so here's the synopsis:
Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen.

That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and acomplete git, but he's probably right.

Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here--it's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.

Carry On - The Rise and Fall of Simon Snow is a ghost story, a love story and a mystery. It has just as much kissing and talking as you'd expect from a Rainbow Rowell story - but far, far more monsters.
Carry On could be read as a stand alone book, but I recommend to read Fangirl and then read this gem. In Fangirl, before each chapter you get a piece of Cath's fanfiction. So when I read Carry On all I could think about was the little snippets we got from her writing. The thing with Carry On we don't know if it's canon. And for those of you don't understand what that means, it just means that it's official storyline in which the story is based on. It gets a bit confusing on that end, but please trust me when I say that the story is so so so great.

The characters are filled with sarcasm, and dry humor. And it's exactly what I love. It's based on the last book of the Baz and Simon storyline, so we get a lot of "In 4th year blah blah blah happened" but I thought that it added to the story. I know this book isn't for everyone because not everyone likes fantasy, but give this one a shot. It's a hilarious quick read, and me and my best friend absolutely love fangirling about it. We understand Cath's obsession with Baz and Simon. Now I just want to go back to Fangirl and read the fanfiction snippets.
