Trying New Things

Trying new things can always be a little daunting if I do say so myself. Especially since I rarely ever finish them, I honestly can't remember a time when I've started a project and completely finished it (i.e., knitting, reading 50 books a year, learning a new langue, etc. etc.). For my birthday I had gotten a small calligraphy set and it really wasn't until last weekend that I actually sat down and tried.

The first few mintues were especially frustrating, I couldn't get it right even though I was following a blogs step-by-step tutorial, different pinterest boards, and youtube tutorials. But I kept trying and I started liking what I was doing a little more and spent about an hour writing just about anything, from friends names to the word love, lyrics, and even the blogs name all over the paper. And although this project isn't quite finished yet, I can't wait to just keep practicing and getting better, and finally being able to say that I was able to see a project until the end.

This is what came with my gift, a small starter kit. It also came with some paper to practice on, but I just got one of my own notebooks and have been practicing there.

And I've been documenting my progress and here are some of them, I know it's not the best but I'm still really proud of myself :)

I will admit that it's not very easy, but you can see from the first one to the last one that I've gotten a little bit better. I absolutely love practicing and seriously can't wait to keep on practicing.

What is something new that you want to try?
Would you like me to post more of my Calligraphy journey?
