BEING MORE POSITIVE

"Being a human was the hardest thing I've ever had to."

When I was in high school I used to be a negative person, constantly being sucked in by negativity, and around my second year of college I realized how exhausting it all was. Putting all my energy into hating everyone and mostly everything, it really drained me. So, I changed and started being positive. I'll admit it was a bit hard to get out of that mindset, but I did it. And I just wanted to share some tricks and tips that I learned along the way to help me live a more positive life.
  • Removing negative people from your life. I know it's hard to get 'rid of' people, especially when they're really close to you. But sometimes you need to realize that they're doing more harm than good. 
  • Celebrating every tiny victory. This may seem a little silly, but when you've done something, celebrate. Even if you just write in your journal about it, or talk to a friend about it with a lot of excitement. 
  • Challenge negative thoughts. Whenever you think about something negative, think of positive things as well. You can do an excerise with this one, write down your negative thoughts, an for each one write two positive ones. This especially helps when it comes to self-confidence! 
  • Spread Positivity. Be more positive on the outside. Smile more, smiling usually puts people around you in a more positive mood. Give genuine compliments, and give hugs! 
  • Don't be too hard on yourself. You're doing the best you can, don't bring yourself down and put yourself in a negative space when things don't go as planned. Just breathe, take a few seconds to acklowedge what happened, and start again or start on another route. Some things happen for a reason. 
  • Stay happy. As hard as it is, try not to complain too much. Don't waste your energy on things that are out of your control. 
  • Look for positivity. This is as simple as searching positive quotes on pinterest, or on youtube. Sometimes kids are the best source for positivity, heres one video and here's another. 
  • Try not to stress too much. Stressing won't change the outcome of what's happening. And stressing and worrying isn't good for your health either. 
I still use all of these to help myself stay positive. Remember not to care about what other people think of you. Have your own pleasures, and don't call them guilty pleasures, if you like doing something or like a certain band or movie that not a lot of people enjoy, take pride in it. It makes you happy!
